Landing Pages for Paid Ads: What to Fix After the Click

Your ads are bringing visitors to your landing pages for paid ads, but very few enquire. It is tempting to change the audience or raise the budget. Before doing either, follow the link yourself.
Does the page show the offer from the ad? Can you understand it on a phone? Does the form work, and does someone answer it?
Does the page show the offer from the ad? Can you understand it on a phone? Does the form work, and does someone answer it? Those checks will not explain every weak campaign, but they can uncover problems that more advertising would only make more expensive.
What to take from this guide
Make the offer on the page consistent with the ad.
Give visitors enough information to decide and one clear primary action.
Check speed, forms and follow-up on real devices.
Measure useful enquiries and sales, not just button taps.
What Should Landing Pages for Paid Ads Do?
A campaign landing page continues the conversation started by the ad. It should help someone understand the offer, decide whether it fits and take the next step.
If the ad offers ERP implementation for UAE distributors, a page headed “Digital transformation solutions” asks the visitor to make the connection. A clearer page names the service and audience, then explains scope, relevant experience and how an initial discussion works.
You do not need identical wording everywhere. You need consistency. If the ad promises a consultation, the page should not quietly become a brochure download. If a price or condition matters, make it visible before asking for an enquiry.
What information should come first?
Start with what the visitor came for. Explain the service or product, who it suits and what they can do next. Put supporting information where it answers the questions that follow.
Visitor’s question | What the page can provide |
Am I in the right place? | A clear heading and offer consistent with the ad |
Is this suitable for me? | Use cases, location, eligibility or scope |
Why should I believe it? | Relevant work, demonstrations, evidence and named people |
What will this involve? | Process, timing, cost information and important conditions |
What happens next? | A clear primary action and an explanation of the response |
Evidence does not have to be a large number. A demonstration, a sample output or a carefully explained case can answer more than an unrelated list of countries served.
Use enough detail for the decision. A simple booking may need little explanation. A substantial business purchase may need a longer page, with clear headings so visitors can find their questions.
How much difference can conversion rate make?
At a fixed click cost, more completed enquiries from the same visits reduce cost per enquiry. The calculation is useful, but it is a model, not proof that a redesign will deliver that improvement.
Here is an illustrative campaign using AED 60 per click and AED 30,000 in media spend. All three rows assume the same 500 clicks and the same definition of an enquiry.
Assumed page conversion rate | Enquiries | Media cost per enquiry |
2% | 10 | AED 3,000 |
4% | 20 | AED 1,500 |
6% | 30 | AED 1,000 |
Use your own figures before deciding where to invest. If a change increases submissions but attracts unsuitable customers, the apparent improvement may disappear further down the sales process. Include page-building and management costs in the full business calculation.
Unbounce’s 2024 benchmark report gives a 6.6% median across industries in its dataset. That is context, not a target for every UAE campaign. A download, a purchase and a qualified consultation are different actions; their rates should not be treated as interchangeable.
Should the page ask for a form, a message or a booking?
Choose a primary action that fits the visitor’s readiness and the way your team can respond. Keep necessary alternatives available without making every option equally prominent.
Action | Useful when | Check before launch |
Enquiry form | The team needs a few details to assess the request | Every field has a purpose; the submission reaches the right person |
WhatsApp or chat | A conversation helps answer a question before proceeding | Coverage hours and response expectations are clear |
Appointment booking | The visitor understands the meeting and is ready to choose a time | Slots are available; the agenda and confirmation are clear |
Purchase | The visitor can make the decision online | Price, delivery, stock and checkout are accurate |
Ask for the information needed for the next step. Extra fields can create work for the visitor, but a relevant qualification question can save both sides an unsuitable conversation. Test the trade-off rather than treating four fields as a universal limit.
If the campaign runs outside staffed hours, explain when someone will reply. A message route that looks immediate but stays unattended creates a different experience from the one the page suggests.
How fast does the page need to be?
Make the main content available quickly, then check the full interaction. Google’s web.dev guidance sets a good Largest Contentful Paint at 2.5 seconds or less at the 75th percentile of visits, assessed separately for mobile and desktop. LCP measures when the largest visible content element appears; it is not the time every page function finishes loading.
Our 7 July 2026 audit recorded a 15.5-second mobile LCP for the homepage in a throttled Lighthouse lab test. The record contained no real-user field data. That was a clear reason to investigate image delivery and loading behaviour, not proof that every customer waited exactly 15.5 seconds.
Use a lab test to find likely causes, and field data where available to understand actual visits. Also open the page on a phone and complete the action. A fast heading does not help if the form fails below it.

Does every ad need a new page?
No. It needs a suitable destination. An existing service or product page may already answer the right question well. A dedicated page is useful when the offer, audience or next step needs a more focused explanation.
Group ads that make the same promise where it makes sense. Separate genuinely different offers so visitors do not have to search the site for the thing they were shown.
A homepage can be appropriate for some broad or brand-led visits. For a specific paid offer, check whether it answers the visitor’s question directly. Decide from the actual page rather than from its label.
Keep access to information people need, including relevant terms and privacy information. Removing every exit is not the same as helping someone make a confident decision.
What should you test before spending?
Read the ad, then the page. Check the offer, price and conditions agree.
Ask an unfamiliar reader what is offered. Note where the explanation becomes unclear.
Use a phone. Read, scroll, type and submit without zooming or fighting the layout.
Test success and errors. Check confirmation messages and what happens when information is missing.
Trace a marked test enquiry. Confirm it arrives and exclude it from real results.
Check responsibility. Name the person who replies and the expected response time.
These checks catch avoidable faults. They cannot tell you in advance how the market will respond to the offer.
How should you measure improvement?
Record visits, completed actions, suitable enquiries and sales as separate steps. Keep their definitions stable while comparing versions.
A WhatsApp button event measures a tap. Confirmed messages and sales require further records and a way to connect them to their source. Do not report every tap as a conversation.
When testing a page change, keep the audience and offer as comparable as possible and note other changes. A rise in conversion during a promotion does not prove the layout caused it. Small counts also need cautious interpretation.
Start with the clearest obstacle, make a considered change and examine what happened through the full customer route. That gives the next budget decision more substance than simply asking for more traffic.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good landing page conversion rate?
Use a relevant benchmark as context, then judge your page against the action requested, traffic quality and business outcome. A higher form-completion rate is not automatically more profitable.
Must I remove all navigation?
No. Make the primary action clear and reduce distracting choices, while keeping access to information needed for a confident decision.
Is a WhatsApp click a lead?
It is a tracked action, not confirmation of a message. Count actual conversations and suitable enquiries separately.
